About Steve

All of the information here has been inspired by the loving memory of my son Stephen Charles Harkins. Stevie was born on May 2, 1978 in Bucks County Pennsylvania. He was the most pleasant and contented baby that every first time mom could hope to have. As his younger brother and sister were born, he took the job of “big brother” very seriously by frequently assuming the role of comforter, soother, problem solver and event coordinator. He carried those “big brother” skills throughout his life in relationships with all of his friends, family and acquaintances.

At the age of 4, soccer became the love of his life, which he carried with him through elementary and high school, college and beyond. The glow of his heart and love of the game always illuminated the entire field and gave encouragement to his teammates. The morning of his last day on this earth, he drove 3 hours to a soccer game with his adult team – when he got home, he said, “That was the best game ever!”.

In addition to participating with just about every soccer team on the east coast, Steve was a member of the National Honor Society, was awarded 2 State and 1 National Gold Keys in Washington DC at the National Scholastic Achievement Awards. He graduated from Susquehanna University in the year 2000 and then worked for Hay Group Inc in Philadelphia until his death.

In his short 24 years on this earth, Steve had a significant impact on many people through his faith, glowing smile, loving heart and unending desire to help people. He will always be remembered as very loving, loyal, and accepting person who would do anything to help someone, no matter the circumstances. His love continues to grow as those of us still here on earth share his love, hope and faith until we meet him again in paradise.
